Ilona must have been 10 years old when she and her mother, Aranka Lauferné Weisz, were deported to the ghetto in Felsőgalla and from there to the concentration camp in Komárom. From there they were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau in mid-June 1944. On the day of their arrival, mother and daughter were sent to a gas chamber by the SS doctor.
