Children of Saul

Edit Scheiber

Celldömölk, ? – Auschwitz-Birkenau, 9 July 1944

Together with 394 (according to other sources 443) other Jews from Celldömölk, Edit was transferred to the ghetto in Janosháza on 11-12 May 1944. From there, they were taken to the collection camp in Sárvár on 17 June. The Jews of Celldömölk were probably deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau on the train that left on 7 July. On arrival, the SS doctor who selected the transport of 2204 people declared about 80 per cent of them unfit for work. They were gassed on the same day. Among them was Edit.
