Zsuzsa Kovács was born in Kassa but lived in Abaújszina. She and her family tried and failed to escape from the Kassa ghetto. By the order of ghetto commander László Csatáry, the Hungarian guards opened fire. One of them (Mrs. Emil Kovács) was shot dead. Zsuzsa’s family was deported at the end of May. She was four years old, when she was killed in the gas chambers of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
