Budapest or Sárbogárd, 1938 – Auschwitz-Birkenau, 7-8 July 1944
Róbert was 6 years old when, in the spring of 1944, he and his family had to move to the ghetto of Sárbogárd, which consisted of several yellow-star houses. On 1 July 1944, the ghetto’s inmates were transported to a concentration camp set up in the Kaposvár artillery barracks. Four days later, they were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau. On the day of his arrival, 7 or 8 July, Robert was killed in the gas chamber of one of the crematoria.
