Újpest (ma: Budapest), 1930 – Auschwitz-Birkenau, 1944.07.10
Before he was deported, László was 14 years old when had been incarcerated in the ghetto in Újpest and the collection camp in Budakalász. The journey, crammed into cattle cars, lasted three days, and despite the heat, they only received water from German guards who relieved the Hungarian gendarmes at Kassa (Kosice). László arrived in Auschwitz-Birkenau on 10 July 1944 with his younger sister, Katalin, who was a year younger than him. Within a few hours, they were both killed.
