The child of the Kohane-Silberman couple was killed before the baby could have been born, 6 months into the mother’s pregnancy. In the summer of 1941, the Hungarian authorities deported the parents from 71 Dob Street in Budapest to Nazi-occupied Ukraine as stateless persons. On 27-28 August 1941, the SS shot the father, a master tailor, and his pregnant mother, Magda, into a mass grave at Kamenets-Podolsk.
