Újpest (ma: Budapest), 1931 – Auschwitz-Birkenau, 10 July 1944
Katalin was 13 when she was sent to the Újpest ghetto with her brother László, a year older than her, and her parents. They were later brutally beaten by the gendarmes and taken to a brick factory in Budakalász. The family was deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau in early July. After their arrival, Katalin and her brother were sent by the SS doctor to one of the gas chambers, as unfit for work.
