Debrecen, 7 July 1937 – Auschwitz-Birkenau, around 29 June 1944
Seven-year-old Gyuri’s father was a labor serviceman. During the ghettoization his mother hid him at a neighbor’s house, but someone reported them. The boy was last seen in his home in Esztár, when he and his mother boarded the horse-drawn carriage that took them to the ghetto in Devecser. According to Christian acquaintances, his mother Magda brought a gift for the coachman, as they were good friends. Christian neighbors watched the sad procession through the fence and windows. Gyuri and his mother were later transported from Devecser to Nagyvárad (Oradea). From there they were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau on 27 June 1944. After their arrival, they died together in one of the gas chambers.
