The 16-year-old young man from Miskolc was called up for labour service in May 1944, although he had not yet reached the age of compulsory military service. Thus, unlike other members of his family, he avoided deportation. At the end of 1944, his company was deported to the western frontier, where they built fortifications under very harsh working conditions. They died en masse due to inadequate supplies, disease and the cruelty of the guards. George survived the liberation but died a few days later.
