Eight-year-old Évike lived with her parents at 20 Opitz Street, Győr. In May 1944, they were taken together to the ghetto set up in the Győrsziget district, and from there to the Buda Road collection camp on 7 June. A freight train carrying Jews from Győr and the surrounding area arrived at the Birkenau ramp on 17 June. Barely 400 men and women were selected for work, the rest were immediately sent to the gas chambers, where both Évike and her mother were killed.
