Győr, 2 August 1930. – Auschwitz-Birkenau, 17 June 1944.
In mid-May 1944, the five children of the Strasser family, 14-year-old Márkus, 13-year-old Eszter, 11-year-old Dávid, 8-year-old Samuel and 2-year-old Ernő were moved to the Győr ghetto and then to the local collection camp with their mother, Paula Snyders. Their father was presumably doing labour service at the time. In mid-June, the Jews from Győr and the surrounding area were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau with two trains. The Strasser family probably arrived at the Birkenau ramp with the second transport on 17 June. Barely 400 men and women were selected for work by the SS physicians. The rest, including the five Strasser children and their mother, were immediately sent to a gas chamber.
