Eight-year-old Marika was thrown into the ghetto in May 1944, along with her family members and ten thousand other Jews from Miskolc. The area was evacuated on 5 June, when they were driven to the Tatar Street brick factory, from where deportation trains left for Auschwitz between 12 and 15 June. Most of the deportees were killed upon arrival, including Marika.
