László lived with his parents in Galánta, now part of Slovakia. In May 1944, the Jews living in and around Galantán were herded into the ghetto set up in and around the synagogue. On 5 June, the Hungarian gendarmerie deported them to the collection camp in Komárom, from where they were taken to KL Auschwitz-Birkenau on 15 June. Most of the deportees were immediately sent to the gas chambers, including László.
