Florika, as she was fondly called, was the only child of photographer Béla Liebmann of Szeged. During World War II Liebmann was conscripted into the Hungarian labor service. His wife Szeréna Hortobágyi and their daughter were ghettoized in Szeged and then deported to a forced labour camp in Austria. They survived the camp, but in April 1945, a few days before liberation they were massacred by retreating SS soldiers in the village of Weissenbach along with 38 other victims.
