Children of Saul

Salomon (“Sally”) Frank

The Hague, 2 January 1937 – Sobibor, 28 May 1943

Salomon’s mother, Zseni Berkovics was born in Munkács (Mukachevo). Around 1927 she emigrated to the Netherlands with her siblings and she married a Jewish businessman, Benjamin Frank. They have settled in the Hague; Sally was born here in 1937. The family lived together until 3 September 1942 when Sally’s father was arrested. He was taken to the construction of the SS camp in Ellecom.  Soon his wife and children were dragged away too – they were taken to the Vught internment camp. The Franks reunited on 25 Mary 1943 in the Westerbork internment camp from where they were deported together. The whole family was murdered in the gas chamber of the Sobibor extermination camp. Salomon was six years old.
